Educational WebQuest: What Region of the U.S. Would You Like to Visit?

US_map_with_girl.png

Introduction:
You are a vacationer wanting to visit one of the 5 regions of the United States. However, you are not familiar with the area, weather or landforms that surround each region. Your parents are allowing you to choose the vacationing place, so you need to pick a spot that is going to be interesting, yet educational (to persuade your parents). You will gather information on each of the 5 regions, and then create a visual to persuade your classmates to vacation in this region.

Do you want to visit the regions of these pictures? Where are they from?

Task:
There are 5 regions in the United States. Your task is to research the 5 regions and become an expert on the characteristics of the region that include identifying the major bodies of water in and around the regions, the vegetation and climate, the physical characteristics of the regions, and identifying the states of the regions with capitals and other major metropolitan centers.

After you have found the characteristics of the regions, you will create a visual aid to present to the class about the region that is the best to vacation in. Once each student presents his or her visual aid, the students will vote on the best vacationing region based on the information presented and the pictures shown. The students that present the region with the most votes will receive a prize that was once a part of that region.
